The case for investing in your floor

The first thing people walk on. The last thing they think about. That’s exactly why it matters.

Every exhibition budget meeting goes the same way. The feature wall gets debated for forty minutes. The flooring line gets approved in four seconds, unchanged from last year: grey carpet, venue standard.

We’d like to argue for a reallocation.

The boundary

A stand without a defined floor is a patch of venue. A stand with one is territory. The edge of a raised platform or a tone-shifted vinyl draws a line a visitor consciously steps across — and that step is the cheapest commitment device in the entire exhibition toolkit.

People who have stepped onto something stay longer. Ask any retailer why the doormat matters.

The comfort

Show days are eight hours on concrete. A raised timber deck with proper underlay is the difference between a team that is present at 4 pm and a team that is performing endurance. Your staff costs are the largest invisible line in your show budget — the floor is what protects them.

Visitors feel it too, without knowing why. They linger on a comfortable floor. Lingering is the entire point.

The finish

Look at the stands you remember from your last show. We will take a guess: the floor was part of the composition — a pale deck against a dark shell, a printed vinyl that carried the brand colour to the very edge, a platform that made the whole stand read as one object rather than furniture on carpet.

The floor is a sixth wall. Treating it as infrastructure wastes the largest single surface you are paying for.

The cable problem

Every stand has power, AV and lighting runs. On venue carpet they live under gaffer tape ramps — the universal signature of we ran out of budget. A raised floor swallows every cable into a concealed channel. The stand reads clean because it is clean.

What it costs

On our configurator, a raised timber floor is one of the mid-priced upgrades — typically a fraction of what the back wall costs, for a surface visitors physically interact with for the entire visit. Printed vinyl comes in lower still.

We deliver the finish, detail and impact of a custom-built stand — without the custom-built price tag. The floor is where that equation is most visible. Stop walking on the default.
